Partha Pratim Majumder is called predecessor and forerunner of the art of mime in Bangladesh. He is called torchbearer of the ‘universal mime,’ a blend of western corporeal mime, pantomime, Chinese Opera, Japanese traditional Kabuki and Noh and Indian Kathakali. He is a student of legendary French mime artiste Marcel Marceau who developed the art of universal mime. Partha travelled all over the world to display his outstanding skill and teach the art. He has been awarded the highest Cultural honour “Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettre” (Knight in the Order of Fine Arts and Humanities) of France in 2011 and the highest honour of Bangladesh “Ekushey Award” in 2010.
Born in Pabna District in the north-western part of the country, Partha went to France in early 1980s under a scholarship program and trained under Marcel Marceau, the world's greatest mime. Under the guidance of the master of mime, Partha developed his unique style.
His idol is also his great teacher, Marcel Marceau-French legendary mime.
