Age of 23, he mastered ten languages. Apart from English, Bengali, Arabic, he could read & write Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Persian & Urdu languages. He was the first ` linguist’ or polyglot of the subcontinent. 
 
In 1827 Rammohan propagated his new doctrine through the Brahmah Samaj, a religious critical institution. He preached that God is one & unique, the Brahman of the Vedas, referring to the unique Brahman described in the Vedas. He is unique and formless, the worshipers of this Brahmah. Rammohan is the founder of this Brahmanism.
 
A particularly memorable social-reformer of Rammohan was the abolition of sati-immolation. In 1829, he passed an anti-satire law with the help of Lord William Bentinck, then Lord Chancellor of British-India.
The second notable works of his time was the passing of a bill to raise the scholarship of Akbar Shah II, the Mughal emperor deposed by the British. He petitioned the Board of Control Company in 1830 as a representative of King Akbar II.
 
He addressed King Akbar Shahi Rammohan as ‘Raja’ before leaving for England. Since then he is known as Raja Rammohan Ray. During his stay in London he addressed Parliament on behalf of the Kind & won the ability to raise the stipend.
